RNE or the Rules and Elections Committee is a subcommittee of the student senate. Charged with overseeing both Freshman and GM Week elections the committee annually prepares and presents Elections Handbooks which outline the rules and calendar for the elections. The membership of the committee is drawn from every aspect of the student body, with representatives from the Independent Council, Graduate Council, IFC/Panhel, the J-board, the student senate, the Executive board, the Undergraduate council, as well as two members at large appointed by the Grand Marshal. The Chair of the committee is appointed by the Grand Marshal and confirmed by a two-thirds majority vote of the student senate and serves until replaced. All other members of the committee are appointed anually and serve until the end of the spring semester.
